We sit and listen

After Ephesians 1:18

We sit and listen

to the reading

of the will, the attorney’s

soft voice reading

and reducing

the language required

by law, and the language

required by the heart.

We listen as heirs, eager

to know what inheritance

has been provisioned

for each of us. Anticipation

builds with each whereas

until we hear the finality:

our inheritance, what is

left to us and for us,

is hope.
